Hello All,

I'm new here and this is my first post. Just my luck the problem I'm having brought me to this site with a google search. I have a Pioneer HU I just replaced with the very same model. Now I have that engine whining noise on the radio, CD playerand even my XM radio which is a seperate unit. I had NO noise before.

Please advise!

my two cents. I just replaced my pioneer hu because I crossed some wires. This is all after I complained to dealer than I have a wining noise coming from my speakers which have a separate amp. (the HU is 4 years old) He said is was my "PIONEER" hu and thats why they dont sell them anymore, bad rca outs on deck. I bought a clarion from him last week and the wining was still there, even more so when I turned up the gain on the amp. when I turned down the gain the noise decreased. Now I have to turn up to full volume to get loud quality, but the whining is acceptable. I'm saying for your situation, it's probably the rca's...??? Actually, there are more details needed here for a better explaination.

Give us more info so we can help you.  At this point it's all a guessing game.  List the year, make, model and if you have any amps running your speakers etc.  Did it come with a factory amplified sound system?  Why did you replace your unit?  Was there a problem, did you use the same harness, or did you rewire?

Also to add, did you unplug the radio and plug the new one in? What condition was the replacement radio in?

Pioneer radio do have an inherent ground problem though. I have had this happen first hand with a customer's Civic about a month ago and could not figure out. Even replacing the HU with another Pioneer HU didn't do anything. The whine only was evident at lower volumes so the customer just took the vehicle until I could find a solution. The only solution I could see was a totally different HU from another brand.
