i need to wire an inverter into my van, i want to make it work 'on demand'. the inverter requires a momentary action to turn it on and the same again to turn it off.using the diagram on the relay's page i can set it to turn on the inverter ok, it's just that i need another pulse when the constant finishes to turn it off again! any ideas?

I don't know specifically which diagram you looked at but sounds like a latching relay circuit.

I would think you need something a little more sophisticated to have it turn on/off from current demand.

A circuit that could "sense" the current draw could be used with a relay to turn on, and I would think the opposite would apply as well. However I am drawing a blank at the moment on how to do this. If I figure anything out before you get a helpful reply, I will post it. I know it can be done and probably not that difficult, just not coming to me yet.

Best of luck, I am sure we will make this happen.

ashbyspannerman,  I'm sorry, but is there any way you can be more specific?

So it needs a pulse to turn on, then another pulse to turn off? Does each pulse go to the same terminal of the inverter, or is it two seperate terminals? Positive or negative pulse?

Sorry, you can NOT post a reply.
