I have an LCD 2 way remote from the Viper 791x alarm.  I now have the Python 871xp with the 2 way LED.  My question is, am I able to use the LCD remote with the 871XP.  If so, how?  I have the antenna from the 791x but I do not have the cable.  I tried to connect the 791 antenna to the 871xp using the cable from the 871xp and I was unable to program the LCD remote.  Please let me know if this is even possible.  Thanks!

i am not sure if it will work if u get the right antenna wire, but i know it will not qwork with out changing the whole antenna, the 2 way lcd uses 4 wires in the antenna wire and the other uses 3
If you say "I already know how", don't ask me a single question.

No it will not work. The 791 is FSK and the 871 is ASK.
I am not so sure it won't work. I don't believe it is the brain that determines ASK or FSK. I believe it is the antenna, remote and appropriate cable.
mylhs, If the antenna cable you are using has 3 wires, I think that is your problem. You need one with 4 wires.

The antenna on the Python alarm has 4 wires.  What is ASK and FSK?  Thanks for the info!

ASK, AM based system that is has slower remote response time and less range.
FSK, FM based system with faster remote response time and longer range.

Will a LCD remote from the AM based units program and function with a led unit?

you need the four pin antenna cable with the extra blue wire. You can use the fm responder antenna with the lcd screen with the car vertical and the fm companion remote- the round one. For the 871 it is an am antenna you can use the led remote, regular remotes the 474 series and the lcd with the car horizontal from the alarm only models (Viper 5000) not the 791xv.

So if I get the LCD remote with the horizontal car, I just program it to my 871xp without changing the antenna right?  One more question, will all of the icons on the lcd remote work?  More specifically, will it show if the car has been remote started or not?  Thanks.
