If I take the glass out of my bandpass box, will it work as a porte4d encloser?

That depends on the "box."  I recommend if you want to change your enclosure type, build (or have built) a new one designed for your speakers.

Um...I think everyone overlooked that he said the window in on the PORTED SIDE..so he would be putting a big donut hole in the ported side of the box...so this would be nowhere near a ported alignment anyways.
Just go buy a prefab vented box...it'll sound better than your ghetto no glass sealed bandpass box.

if the glass is on the ported side of the subs, that means without the glass, he'd just have two small sealed boxes. IMO, it will still sound like hammered horse @$$, but could be done. as said by the others though, just build or have built a new box. vented would be best, IMO, really depends on the subs.
Whatever you do, DO NOT let the white smoke leak out of the wires.....
