fyi compustar not functioning in cold

Compustart is still a good product but recently some of my units seem to have some issue when the tach signal is tap to the injector. Just you let you know guys I have been replacing Compustart 1WAMS unit out of 06 Civic because it won't start in the morning after sitting all night. It will only start after it has been running for a while or in warmer weather. I think it has something to do with the tach signal at the injector once the temperature drops. (I ASS-U-ME THE REASON BEHINDE IT IS THAT IT DOES NOT DO MUTIPULE TACH READING LIKE OTHER BRANDS.) I have done all types of combination swap thinking it was the bypass and installation related issue. NOT THE PROBLEM! I have now replaced all the unit with Autostart on 06 Civics with follows up phone calls. The entire list of customer with 06 Civics are very happy now.   If you guys have similar issue related to this. Please post the vehicle, model and year. Please only post if you are industry related and that you have exhausted all possibility not related to installation issue. Thanks guys. Please don’t post your comments without any content. Pencil....what did tech support have to say? The store I'm workin at now is fixin to become a Compustar dealer! This is interesting information.

Hey xtremei, you know the saying “can’t teach an old dog new tricks” when you have been using tach sensing for so long and it works. I just didn’t see why is all the better way to do things when all the major brand out in the market has tach sensing, plus all the wiring diagram has tach sensing.   It’s only an issue with the Compustar 1wams unit on 06 Civics. Same set up with an Autostart unit and it worked so I didn’t bother to test further. I wasted enough of my time. You guys can do the testing with alternator sensing. Love to hear the result.

Hey KarTuneMan, No I haven’t called tech support and discuss about my finding. I will when I have time. At this time of the year most tech will tell you to try this and that. I can’t be bother with, my distributor are paid to do that. My FutureShop colleagues have same issue with Nustart, so I am sure the issue has been raise.      Velocity(Jeff), any input? Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

So far are results have been good with us using alternator sensing, but like I said we are only 4 months into compustar hopefully Velocity can share some expereince on this.

I've had the same problem with the 2006/2007 Civic's and the tach signal in the morning when it gets below 0 celcius. At first I thought it was the bypass and then I noticed that it wasn't cranking because of the tach signal when it was colder. I moved the tach to the injector & the coil and both were no good. I used alternator sensing and it's fine and works better than the tach input. On the newer vehicles and diesels I've been using the alternator signal on all new 4200 CPU's and have had 0 comebacks. I also suggest using the alternator sensing on newer imports and also on the diesels ( when you can ) as this will cause less problems and no overcarank issues as well.Jeff

Thanks for the update guys. This doesn't really entice a lot of confident on the newer 4200 unit. There is nothing I like better than to go into uncharted territory with long term result unknown. May need to get use to the new installation procedure and at the same time rewire my brain on some new technique.   Thanks for coming through again Jeff.
