I was just curious what everyone thought of this.  I am not so sure it is a great idea.  I also think it will be difficult for them to get past regulatory committees, because I am not sure just how much competition they are getting from internet radio. Just wanted some discussion.

Thanks

Thad

Good Luck!

If this happens, would there just be units that play both sets of stations?  Or would it be 1 company offering 2 different sets of stations?  Because if this is going to happen I would wait on getting a unit if the new units that come out with play all the stations.

The way I understood it is that they will let you pick what stations you want, and it is not supposed to happen until the end of the year.

Definetly hold on getting anything for sat. radio. This crap changes so much as soon as you buy anything it outdated. I don't think fcc will alow this merger do to monoply laws, you never know though money talks.

Remember when Dish Network and Directv tried to merge? I don't think they'll let Sirius and XM merge.

Who knows. Their satellite technologies are completely different with XM using two stationary and sirius using three orbiting, but i do not know what their broadcast frequencies are. It would be kinda cool to have the output capabilities of five satellites with a smaller amount of channels. Pick the better music program directors (XM) and combine that with the existing talk hosts and all of the sports and there is a winner. They are not just competing with internet radio but regular am and fm and now HD. Since the AM/FM/HD route is free, and the internet route is free, and there are no other satellite competition for consumers there should not be a problem.
