i just bought a snugtop sl hard tonneau cover for my 02 ford f-150. i already have a viper 791xv installed. i have some extra hood pin switchs and was thinking of using them. my tonneau cover has metal rails that go the full length of the bed and i was thinking of drilling a hole in the rail for the hood pin switch. is that a good idea or what do most you you guys do for tonneau covers?  all i need is for if someone breaks in my tonneau cover and opens it my alarm will go off.

thanks

With tonneau covers, I mostly use reed switches. Although, I've used tilt switches in the past, reeds work well for that.

It is a two piece switch that uses magnets to open and close the circuit.

It does not matter which wire you ground.
