I recently found out my Insurance policy does not cover Theft because we do not have an alarm with "linebacker" service.

Are there any shop owners out there with insurance policies covering liability/theft/fire etc... without this service?

I am in a catch 22. My phone company is cable based, but the insurance Co wont write a policy with theft unless my phone line is hooked up to a line backer.

In my searches, I cannot find another company.

I am in s/e MI.

Any help is appreciated. I have $25,000 inventory just WAITING for someone to take off my hands.... uninsured.

Thanks

Line Backer is a little box that goes on the telephone pole. It sends a ping to the alarm thru the phone line. If the phone line is cut, the box at the pole sends a signal to the alarm co. or police.

In this day and age with VOIP, i cant believe there are companies that still require it.

We use a celphone back up on the alarm.  Can't cut the cel line.  The unit was about $800 many years ago, think there down to a couple of hundred, and you can use "lifeline" service about $10/month, uniteruped.  You insurance company should be able to handel the 22nd centry tech.   If your phone line wasn't cut, and the alarm worked, just to long to repsoned they have no choice but to pay.  Did they not do an inspection of your system prior to providing coverage and inform you of deficency and limited coverage?  They have responsablity  to provide you with this info, and if they didn't file a complaint with which ever regulatory agency is involved.
