wiring four dvc subs

I'm stumped on this one because I didn't pay attention in college physics...

I have four DVC subwoofers. Each voice coil is 4 ohms. I'm trying to wire the entire thing down to 2 ohms. I know my amp is stable at 2 ohms, but I don't know if that is per channel or total; I want two wired to each channel for stereo sound instead of mono. It's a 2 channel 500 watt amp that puts out 175x2 at 2 ohms.

I'm not a complete noob to car audio, but I have only worked with more simple systems. This is the most complex mine has gotten so far. I never thought I'd put four 10s in a Civic. If anyone can help me out, I would definitely appreciate it.

Why in god's name would you want to install such a system.  First, EVEN IF you could wire up a pair of those subs to create 2 ohms worth of impedence you'd still be supplying each sub with a whopping 87.5 watts .  BUT since you can't do that, you'll end up supplying each sub with a groundshaking 62.5 watts.  This is adaquete for, say, a good 5.25", but not for a subwoofer.  That amount of wattage will likely greatly underpower your subwoofers to the extent that the "sub" portion of sub-woofer will be rendered meaningless--you'll simply have 4 big obnoxious woofers.  If this amount of wattage APPROPRIATELY powers them, then you have subs not worth owning (its really tough to get decent bass out of anything with less than 200 watts per driver--from my experience 500+ is ideal smooth, deep-bass)  Your best bet would be to sell all the woofers you've get, use that money to get one good dual 2 ohm sub and power it with your current amp.  If your amp is bridgable, wire the sub to 4 ohms, bridge your amp, and voila you've got yourself decent bass.  If your amp is not bridgeable, then wire each voice coil to one channel and voila, same result.  Doing so would save you the money/time of having to purchase/build enclosures as well as save your trunk space AND you'll get higher quality bass that will do a much better job of blending with your mids/highs than 4 subs will.

You probably think I'm a complete idiot, but that's because you don't have the whole plan. I have a new amp coming in. Once the amp I ordered gets in, this won't matter. I was just hoping to have something to do and have something hooked up for a long drive this week until it gets here. I didn't think it would be that bad. What's the worst that can happen? I blow my amp somehow? Forget the amp, it's the first one I ever owned. I had to start somewhere. And the subs? Again, first ones I ever owned. Old, and they don't match what I have planned. Plus, it's a small car, so anything sounds loud. I suppose my sarcasm was missed in the last post because I was too vague with my plans and current setup. Overpower? Come on. It's only a 500 watt (max) amp. And I only have 250 watts total for the 4 inside ones. Again, had to start somewhere. The amp for the inside speakers isn't hooked up, even though I have it. My setup is in the Frankenstein stage until I match everything. The whole point of this is to have everything wired up whether it works well or not so I can just drop new stuff in as I get it.
