adding an extra battery - Last Post -- posted image.Heres the easiest way, i'd use at least 4 gauge wire with 150 amp fuses, some people say to use the exact same battery and if your putting one in the trunk make sure its a dry cell cause the other ones emit poisoness gases. There are other ways like buying an isolater and they usually come with their manual on how to do it, but they aint cheap. I would also upgrade the wires (The Big 3) you can read about it at the top of this forum, also check that your alternator is good enough to charge both batteries or its just a waste of money.

Put the fuses within 18 inches of battery the closer the safer.

You should listen to some people. The batteries that you are using need to be the same exact battery and they also need to be the same age to assure proper functionality. The isolater is not needed for basic functionality of the system, but some people use them to make sure that they can drive away after parking lot pumpin' at starbucks. The downside of using an isolator can be found here... https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=34399&KW=questioned
