I am new to this forum and to Car audio in general and am lookin for some input

I am wonder what is a better "sounding"  settup

1x12" sub or 2x10" I am 42 and like all types of music

I want the subs to "Hit Hard" but not be over the top, remember, I am looking for audio quility vs Big bottom end

I Have a 12" Premier sub that was being driven by a Bassworx ba150.2 (bridged) But i have blown up 2 of these amps. ( think in the 400w range)

A friend gave me a phoenix gold xs2200 4 ohm bridged @ 13.8 vdc (rated at 200wrms)

I just hooked up the phoenix gold today and am not impressed!

the bassworx amp sounded as muddy as this amp does

I'm sure there are all kinds of variables involved in  car audio that i am unaware of, i am unsure how to tune this newer amp.

I am new to car audio but not new to audio (home audio)

I also am not sure as to what type of box i should build or what or who makes good quality sub drivers.

the sub box i have was made to fit into the space available in my truck (2002 f150 lariat) and is under the back jump seat

kato65. I don't know where you are in BC but I suggest you contact forum member Forbidden, who owns a shop on Vancouver Island, and get his advice.  I'm sure he has something that is far better than any of the amps mentioned so far.
