I just tried to paint for the first time and did great untill Clear Coat. I did my primmer and paint on the same day and they went great. I came back the next day and layed my clear without sanding first, which is where I think it went wrong, now the clear is bumpy. Should I sand it down the clear and spray it again?

Dang! You joined the12volt Feb. 15, 2006 and this is your first post! -Welcome, I guess!

If the paint turned out smooth then i'd say to wet sand it down and try again. Good luck!

The paint was good and smooth so I guess I will get to the sanding. But for future referance am I right about having to sand the base coat if I do the clear coat later?

Yes, wetsanding surely does help, but it's not always needed.

Wetsand your clear with 1200 grit, it will turn a chalky white, then buff it with a medium grit compound, then buff it again with some scratch filler, then apply a coat of wax and ur done, its normal to have flaws in your clear, this is a easier cheaper fix to ur problem
