'99 acura rl remote start problem

I installed a remote starter on a '99 acura RL using an OFA-10 bypass. It seems to be programmed fine since the key icon shuts off as soon as the starter is activated. My problem is an intermittant one.

Every 4th or 5th remote start attempt it will just sit there and crank. Then all of a sudden the next try it will start right up and run fine. All my connections were triple checked, but now I see in the install wiring info on this site that they want you to connect to the fuse box input wires from the ign switch. I have mine wired up just below the switch itself, not down at the fuse box. Could this be the problem? Could it be like one of the other Honda models that had to be wired at the fuse box and not the wires coming directly off the ign switch? I'm stumped, and the customer is losing patience with me quickly.

At this point I'm not sure if the ign wire is powering up properly, or the OFA-10 didn't program properly, Although like I stated above, the key icon on the cluster NEVER flashed once, even during the constant cranking. Shuts right off as it's supposed to do when the remote starter is engaged. This would lead me to believe the ign wire isn't powering up down line somwhere, since it IS powering up at the connection. I won't have the car back in here 'till sometime next week, so I'm trying to find an answer before hand.

Any ideas, anyone?? HELP!!

Have you check the outputs of the R/S (for your suspected ign. problems) ?

Also the output that triggers the bypass?

I called the bypass company today and they said it's possible the "ground while running' wire has to come on before the ignition fires up to give it time to transmit the signal. They mentioned installing a 1000mfd cap on the disarm wire, then link it to the ground while running wire of the bypass, along with the original ground output wire. They said that this would give enough "headstart" to the module to transmit the signal. The guy was familiar with this problem on some Acuras. What I STILL don't get is the fact that the key icon doesn't light up, giving a clue to the bypass not functioning properly. This is a first for me, that's for sure.

Soooooo...we'll see how it goes when the customer drops the car next week.
