buying subs and amp

Ok..so say I want to get 2 subs each 250 watts 500 watts MAX..2 OHMS each..that would mean that I would have 500 watts 1000 watts MAX and 4 OHMS..so the amp I would need to get would have to be 4 OHM stable or 2 depending if i bridge them or not and it would have to be 500 X 2..is this correct?? if not can someone help me?...and also could the amp be a little less power then the subs like 400 or 450 watts in stead of 500?

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. Are you saying you want around a 500 watt amp or 1000 watt amp? Look at RMS rating of the amp, not peak.
