Hey guys, I just signed up today, but I'm sure you guys will see more of me in the time coming as I'm getting into the car audio end of things (just bought a 12" Pyle, I know cheapy but it works good). My buddy has a Ford Escort LX 87 (according to him) and I'm having troubles finding a stereo pin-out for his particular car because he'll be buying a new head unit for it soon, and I was also looking to wire some rca inputs in somewhere until he does get the new unit. Am I gonna have to get the model number off the OEM stereo unit?? Thanks in advanced.

Either check right here... (That took me about 30 seconds, and 5 mouse clicks to find, BTW. Newer users might take a whole minute.) There is no auxillary input for that deck.
or, (and the recommended option) BUY A HARNESS, AND DO IT RIGHT. Now, if your car's harness is already cut, then option one will be your best bet. If not, save yourself HOURS of work, and shell out the 9 bucks it takes to leave your local Circuit City with a harness.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Thanks haemphyst, I looked in the vehicle wiring section of this site for probably 20 minutes and couldn't find anything for older ford models, let alone a escort. And I'll be planning to get him a wiring harness when he gets the new unit, but we want to play around with it till then and hook a sub up to the factory unit (with a second amp of course).
