Hi,

We put a Compustar 2W900FMAS into a BMW 318 1995.

Everything works great but the car is chipped. So we used a unversal key in the box bypass. WE CAN NOT GET THE THING TO WORK. It will work in a certain position but then the cover of the ring will not go on

Any ideas?

either need a viper 555B or 556U as a box.

Use a factory transponder ring. Get it from the dealer. OE part# 66-008362278  maybe 30 bucks.

There are 2 wires on the transponder ring. on the OE ring cut one of the wires. Take the transponder "box" side of the wire to pin 30, and the other half of that wire to 87a

On the second transponder ring keep the wires in series. the wire you cut on the first ring THIS wire will go to pin 87, the other wire on the 2nd ring will go to the factory transponder ring wire

you DID NOT cut....just solder it to this wire.  86=12v, 85= ground while running.

Take an extra key and use as much electrical tape as you need, and centter it in the second ring ....tape the crap out of it. test it....and tuck it away.

On a 95 a cheaper but less secure method than Kar Tunes or using a 556U is to knock off the antenna ring from the ign switch and bury a spare key in it,  you need a couple of goes to align it and wait for about 4 mins between every set up attempt  to alllow the transponder to shut down.
