Im opening up a discussion on why not or why to buy audio stuff on ebay. I have seen people get their stuff off of ebay and say it works fine yet there are people who say don't buy on ebay. Personally I have gotten an amp and 2 sets of speakers(bought as brand new) and they have worked fine for about 4 years now.
What are the reasons why people say don't buy audio equipment on ebay? Any and all opinions are welcome.
Thanks for your input!

The main reason is that there are very few, if any, manufacturers that will honor a warranty on anything bought on ebay. There are great deals out there but it is always a gamble.

yeah I get that the manufacturer wont honer any warranty, and im not sure how good the ebay store's warranty is....i guess its only as good as its seller.
Any other opinions?

Complete lack of any kind of tech support by the seller, other than sure it will fit/work.

I personnally have gotten tired of answering question about product on ebay, is it any good? what's it worth?.....

My question is if you bought it on ebay, why are you in my shop looking for free support?  That comes from the dealer who sold it to you, after all he's the one who made any profit off of you, why should it cost me $$.

It's buyer beware, if you know what you can be in for.  Its like the wild west, no rules, no punishment and even ebay admits its "happy" transaction number are doctored.

Having said that, there are honest sellers on the system.

i spose it just depends on those honest sellers who care to make their customers happy?

Lack of a relationship you can have "face to face"

Not much of a gamblin man myself. I consider it a risk in general, to do business on line!

lol sorry to hear that to each there own why pay 900$ for a car amp when i can get it for 300$ buy a square trade warr for pennies on the dollar. which will refund your money in 5 days no if and or or buts? so i can go to joe bob and pay 3 times as more for what again? and yes i work in a shop pt. bottom line mark ups on car audio are plain sick and not needed. 500-700%? its called suggested retail for a reason isnt it. so bitch and moan all you guys want the car audio bizz has hurt it self not the buyers hurting them. its not any diff than buying anything if you can find it cheaper with a warranty whats the problem again? sorry the internet not just ebay has hurt you guys but all i can say is blame the guys who buy pallets of amps at a time. 75% of the people who come to the shop i work at buy their stuff online now lol odd isnt it. even my boss is now on ebay looking at some liq deals lol. i just got a lot of db link 16 ft rcas 10 of them for around 35-40$ with shipping. retail was 29$ each they are new in packaging. so i sell them for 18$ make 160$ profit lol yep ebay really sucks.

I would never buy anything from Circuit City or Best Buy...mainly for the fact(and i dont mean any offense to those that have worked there and actually know their stuff) that around here, they will let ANYONE sell car audio here.

But, there is a shop in town that if i need something small, ill get it from them.  A lot of the price of the shops markup is to pay for the people that can give support to those who need it. Well, personally, i dont need any tech support from anyone so i dont want to pay for what i wont use.

I want to get a JL 500/1v2 amp and a JL w6v2 also on ebay. I hope i can find a legit seller with a warranty(even thought Iv never had problems with any equipment iv had)
