What kind of speed are those babies capable of? What speed would you like to limit them to?

They are fleet work trucks. so they would like to set the max speed at 70 so the employees arent causeing more wear on the trucks by diving 90 on the freeway.

The one thought I had last night was to try and find a local company that could maybe "edit" the computer and change the top speed limiter from 98 to 70. any ideas if the factory settings can be changed? or is that a whol program thing like with a hypertech?

It can probably be done with a GM Tech2 scan tool.

all vehicles have rev. limiters now-a-days don't they? i know you can find processor chips that change limit of the rpm's. you could take one of the colorados for a drive and look at the tac. (in the highest gear) at 70 mph and buy that rpm rated chip i guess, i'm no expert but i friend of mines dad is a ____ and didn't let him go over 75 and did something like this.

Interesting idea....

I've never personally seen an aftermarket speed governer. However, with fuel prices the way they are now I wouldn't be surprised if they start to pop up. Truckers are already lowering their top speed to minimize drag (and thus raising fuel economy).
