Hello, seeking assistance for an automation project on a John Deere zero turn commercial mower. The project involves a 2" linear actuator with internal limit switches, that will raise and lower the deck chute. I have finished the mechanicals and I'm in over my head electrically. I wish for the actuator to extend when a button switch is pressed at the end of the steering handle and then automatically retract when the button switch is released. Can anyone offer help or a wiring schematic?
Regards,
Wyandot

This will require a latching switch of some sort and 2 relays.
Relays wired as follows.
Relay 1
Power to 87
ground to 87a
30 to one wire of actuator
ground to 85
power from switch to 86
Relay 2
Ground to 87
power to 87a
30 to other wire of actuator
ground to 85
power from switch to 86
You must provide power to the switch.
If it working backwards simply switch the actuator wires around.

Thanks to this site and IAAI, attached is the completed project. The action is a little slow than what I had envisioned but it works great. Next step is to add a button on the other handle to lower a deflector to keep clippings out of landscaping.
