i have a new optima red top 34/78 and I just bought an Xs power D 3400. So can I hook those two batteries up in parallel, do I need an isolator hooked up? And do I run a wire to each battery for my alternator I have a high output alternator I just don't know how to hook everything up I've tried looking at other posts and don't understand if one will draw from the other please help and if those won't work can somebody please suggest a budget-friendly battery to put under the hood

most definitely use a isolator. If you hook them up with out one the alternator will try on charge both at the same time puttin extra stress on it. Since the 2nd battery is primarly use for extra key off time you won't run down both battery and still be able to start your car
33 years as a installer now just a retired old guy. Favorite thing to install/topic are remote starts/car alarms. Stop using test lights!!!
