Hi,
New member here.
I installed the aforementioned switch and couldn't figure out why I couldn't get brake lights. Thanks to someone on this forum in a previous discussion I found the source of the problem.
First I thought it was my brake light pressure switch so I installed a mechanical one under the floorboards but still nothing.
anyway the long and the "short" of it is that the United Pacific 5007R
DOES NOT WORK WITH TWO FILAMENT BULBS!
So . . . I took my old signal Stat 800 apart again, re-restored it and everything is perfect.
I should tell Chevs of the 40's where i bought the switch that they should tell the poor suckers who buy the switch, that have old rigs like this 1951 Chev Aluminum Step van of mine (it's not a Grumman) that this nice shiny United Pacific switch doesn't work when stop and tail FILAMENTS are in the same bulb!
Also when the turn liver was pulled down for a left turn,I had to lift it up a little to get the green indicator to flash. I was going to glue a rubber stop in there until I found out that the switch design itself was denying me brake lights.
Just thought I'd register here to save someone else the grief.
Terry
