Some people on this site might remember back a few months (bout 6 or more) that I conjured up this idea of a dealer network. Well I finally have time to devote to this and I also have secured financing. Here's a run down of what this is going to entail - The aftermarket acc network (aadn) is going to be a central website database that will include the following information -

1. Vehicle wiring information
2. Dash and general disassembly information
3. Tech tips submitted by users, sorted by product and vehicle.
4. Recall information and known problems with current vehicle

So say a dealer has a 2003 jaguar in the bay, he can log in - get wiring information, figure out how to remove the dash after getting that info he notes that someone else has done one of these and note to make sure to get the right ignition wire otherwise its cause’s problems.

For this service there will be a monthly charge of some amount. All post will be checked and edited before being added, no one other than dealers will be able to get to the site to maintain its integrity. For those who work at best buy, they have a system like this- I just want to go nation wide with it. Please post your suggestions as you feel fit. If you’re interested in helping please email me at themagicone@attbi.com Thanks!

Humm good question Jeff. How people just verify info and the people would get points towards accuarcy, so if you use info from someone and its right they get points - more points, more chance its better?

Got any estimates floating around? Good info is worth a lot IMO but that doesn't mean people are willing to pay a lot for it. Especially since majority of shops already have their sources.

Hopefully you have a good way to set this up. (Refer to all the posts asking for DEI passwords)

Sounds good in print, but also pretty complicated and more of a hassle than it's worth. As an installer you want to be able to access info quick and easy. After your done with the job do you really want to go back and verify wires or do you want to move on to the next set of info? Something to think about.
Cool idea by the way. Not trying to bash it or anything with my post just throwing some random ideas out there so you have some input and things to think about. Good luck. Where are you from, by the way?

I'm thinking around $40/month/site with upto 2 users and $5/extra user. On the note of only dealers, well somehow i'll have it for only dealers computer can access it, may be with a software program or something. Lastly, to get people to verify info, the dealer would get a discount on service as points go up, if you have say 500 points you would get $2 off or something. To make this service more attractive I'm might offer like time tracking, the installer logs in, punches in and gets the info, then they sign out when they are done. I'll get a deal with dell or something to offer tablet pcs or pda to make this eaiser for installers. I'll get this to work somehow and be profitable! I'm from minneapolis, mn

Would it be better to get a one time fee from user's and then have monthly updates ? Paying $ 40 a month = out to $ 480.00 ( USD ) a year. You would have to have some impressive software and up to date wiring information for that kind of money. I know that DEI doesn't charge for it's service & the installer's on there get upset when information isn't available ASAP to them. Just an FYI New venture, need some input/help -- posted image.

humm.... yeah $40 is a tad high. I was just throughing that out there. With DEI, you can only get that if ur a dei dealers I still havent gotten no one to give me a new password for the site. I'll probably write up a business plan soon here and send it out and get some input from the investors and go from there.
