microphone resistance

i have a microphone for my pa system in my truck and it says it is an 8 ohm mic....does resistance make a difference when relating to a mic?

8ohm Mic? are you sure? Most microphones I know of are around 32kOhm..double check that....sounds more like it is a speaker output more then anything.

What sort of PA system is it?

Check all advice given with a meter

Yes it will make a difference. Mics are built with impendance matched to that of most all styles of receivers that you could use it with. This should be a standardized value.

well i have a animal sounds/siren/PA system module. the mic is for a cb radio with the button on the saide when you want to talk.  i tore the mic apart yesterday and found out that my buddy wired the speaker to the mic. should i leave it like that or should i switch it back to the actual mic?
