voltage problem

When i use mye brakes and come to a stop my voltage meter drops to 12 volts from 14 volts, why is this? and can some one please help?

Well I am not sure but maybe the ABS has something to do with it. If the idle lowers as well it could be a dirty throttle body. I doubt any of the two have much relevance but it's worth a try, got to start eliminating.

Sorry for the double post, but meter your battery. If it is at 12v or under toss it, it's no good. Also, meter your alternator, see what it's putting out.

You really don't need help if your voltage drops to 12 volts at idle.  Your system is pulling a little bit from the battery at this point but how much time do you sit at idle?  When cruising you get 14 volts so that indicates that the alternator is doing it's job well enough and the battery is getting loaded back up at the same time.  Unless there is some other problems going on that you didn't mention here, don't worry about it.

Maybe I'm missing the boat on this but I just don't see an issue.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
