Ive been making some custom taillights for my car for about a month, ive finally come down to wiring them, basically it deals with taking the turn signal function out of a dual filiment bulb. Usually, in this case, i would have used another 3157 size bulb in its place as the turn signal, but in this install im using a 194 bulb.
Im getting a fast flash, indicating that the bulb is burnt out, but it isnt. Im thinking its because the bulb isnt creating enough resistance in the circuit and its triping a sensor.
I measured the resistance across the 3157 bulb, its roughly 30 ohms. I measured the resistance across the 194 bulb, its roughly 6 ohms. Am I correct in thinking that if i buy a 24 ohm resistor, and place it across the 194 bulb wires, that it will create as much resistance as a 3157 bulb?
Will the bulb even light with the resistor on it? Any help would be great. Im not farmiliar with resistance, and im not sure if you can just add it up like that.

You answered all your own questions! Congrats! Now find ceramic resistors which can carry that much current.
Prepare your future. It wasn't the lack of stones that killed the stone age.

Use a heavy duty flasher- it should say it's not load sensing.  Using resistors would be counterproductive, because they'd eat up most of the wattage- your bulbs would only get a couple of volts or so (they'd be too dim).

Its a flasher that won't change speed when a bulb goes out.  They're used on big trucks and you can get one at your local parts store.

i didnt buy it. It says heavy duty flasher. I believe model number ep27. its a square one. I was ready to buy it, but on the package it says "heavy duty flasher" indicates bulb outage by flashing at twice the normal rate.
