im hooking up a another batt to my system my main batt is a red top and the second batt is a yellow top i got a jl1000/1 and jl 300/4  amp 3 10 kickers and boston pros my headlights would blink when i turned my stereo up to sound level to 20 on my deck and i also got the cap 5 farad  hook up and  i just got a stinger pro  sr200 amp relay / isolator now i need to know if i should hook the ups up to the yellow top batt( optima) or leave it on the red top the way i have it hook up now  also on the stinger 200 relay it says to hook up the ignition switch which is on the steering whhel wire harness which i think its purple for a 1977 chevy 1/2 ton pickup      thanks robbie

For dual battery information go here and for the 200 amp Stinger relay, just meter the PURPLE wire to ensure that it's switched. I thought the PURPLE wire on the older Chevy's was the starter wire.

The JL slash series are some power hungry amps.  A multiple battery setup will do absolutely nothing for your dimming problems if your alternator can't keep them charged.  You need an upgraded alternator- plain and simple.  Also read the sticky above about the "big 3".

I agree with geepherder. A cap and extra battery will do nothing unless your alternator can handle it all.
