I just installed the crimestopper 900V in a 2000 cavalier went fairly well. But if anyone has some insight on a couple problems I encountered. TechWeb says you can hook the brake shut off wire at the brake switch which is next to impossible or you can hook it in the steering colum. This is the only wire i didn't get hooked up and I don't wanna leave it unhooked up as you have to manually shut off the remote start and it's just not a good idea. Any wise words on how to get this hooked up? The other problem I had was the horn chrip wire I hooked it up in the BCM on B7 right where it says and then programed the unit to chirp on remote start but it didn't work. Which is fine, my question actually is would it be possible to hook up the trunk pop button so that it will chirp the horn? make it into a car finder button since I don't plan to hook up the trunk pop feature.

Try looking for the brake wire in the drivers kick or runng board area.

I hope that this info helps

Notes:

NOTE: This vehicle has the passlock II immobilizer system that, when adding a remote start, must be interfaced with. Use DEI part 555t or 555L.  *1 The engine harness is found next to the battery, below the radiator hose, just above the transaxle.   *2 Non keyless cars, locks are 5wi (type C) and they are mastered from the passenger side switch. Keyless cars, locks are positive trigger (type A). Also found at BCM.  *3 The GREEN/ black is located in the lower drivers kick panel. It catches the drivers door only. The light blue is located in the lower passenger kick panel, and catches the passenger door(s). Tap both wires and diode isolate each. Also found at BCM.  *4 The BCM is located to the left of the steering column above the kick panel.

I'm still looking for some helpful replies. I appreciate your input jason but this information I already have and unfortuneately I tried for 30 mins to get the wire at the brake switch and had no luck getting to it well enough to splice into it. And the information as to where to find it in the steering colum is a bit lacking. So again if someone has some more information it would be helpful. Also about hooking up the horn wire to the trunk pop so that when i press the trunk pop button it will sound the horn. I will not be using the trunk pop button to open the trunk so I want to use it as a car finder button instead.

on the brake wire, i had the same problem...i used a t-tap connector http://www.dansperformanceparts.com/buggy/elec/buggyelec5.htm  i couldnt post the pic only...about midway down there are t-taps, you can get them anywhere, they clip around the wire so you can connect to it without having to disconnect the wire or harness.

About the trunk relay to set off your horn. it depends on the out put of your trunk ( mine was negative) so i used the negative input to positive out put relay.. i can email you this daigram, but cant post it here..

86  12v constant

87 12 v constant

30 out put to your horn (or what ever you want the trunk button to operate) * this is 12V+ output, dont know if your horn is positive or negative

85 signal from alarm  (negative)

hope this helps

Thanks Sean,

I will give that a try I just came back from the store getting a switch I'm gonna install instead of the hood switch, shoulda took a look here first and i coulda grabbed some of them too.

The horn hookup won't work because the 2000 cavalier uses negative pulse for the horn. I can always use the panick alarm to find the car if i need to.

The brake wire for the car can be found in the harness running to the rear of the car under the drivers door sill clip -  For your horn honk output- chances are that it requires the use of a relay

if you need to set up a relay with negative input, and negative output

86=12v constant

87=ground

85=input from alarm (neg)

30=output to horn (neg)
