i have a problem with a 2000 dodge neon and seeked help from here.iam not mechanically savy but will try to explain this issue. the car was running perfectly well  before i travelled to out of state and then the steering belt went off . i could not replace and so drove the car for around 1000 miles. when i reached  to my final destination i replaced the belt but got start up issue. a mechanic recomended to change the starter and i did .;still i do have the same issue. if i do jump start the car comes a life but then the next day  may not start. i also found out that if i change gear from parking to something else like reverse and put it back to and try to start  it works with no jump start . another mechanic said wat is happening is the factory alarm disables the car as i start but not sure how that is true. Just not to forget there are some wires messed up coz some pple tried to take cd player and had to break down both handles.

would love to hear to some feedback .

sorry if its not the right sections have not idea where to go .

Thanks

I'd reason that if you lost your power steering belt, your altenator belt may also be fairly worn. Check that, then get your battery/charging system load tested to ensure it's healthy. Check the cables and grounds as well. Perform repairs as necessary.
Also, the neutral safety switch may be out of adjustment. This is a safety feature to prevent the car from starting when not in park or neutral. I'm not sure where this is on your car, but it's definitely worth looking into it.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
