connecting 2 head units?

I have a monitor that is also an amp (alpine cva1004). I just got another head unit that i want to use to play cd's and of course dvd's (apline dva9860).  I have to mount the cd/dvd player under my dash so accessablity is easier if the main control unit for volume and such is the monitor/amp.  the unit under the dash has 3 audio outs, one is for the front rca connection, one for the rear rca connection, and one for the sub.  the monitor has only one rca input.  If I only connect the front rca out from the unit under the dash, will this give me the proper sound or will i lose something because i haven't connected the rear rca connection?  Please help!

The unit you are using just as a monitor should only require a video signal, not audio, unless I am misunderstanding what you are actually doing.

If you want to use the amp that is built in to the cva1004 as well you can use the one set of rca's..it won't matter. The amp in the cva1004 is 4 channel so it will run 4 speakers....but if you wire it this way you will need to use the controls on that unit (cva1004) for front/rear fade adjustments. Just make sure the dva9860 fader is not adjusted to the rear if you are using the front rca's and vice versa or you will get no sound.

If the 1004 does not have a sub out then you could use the one from the 9860. But you would not be able to control the sub adjustments from the 1004, you would need to do that from the 9860.
