Maybe determin your budget. Then look at simular small succesful busineses, and where THEY spend their hard earned dollar.

Your demographics, whos is your target customer. Kids, young adults....people MY age?

What is available to you for advertising? Local radio, news paper (the sports section, employment section) Do you have any competition? An add near theirs could be advantageous.

Get at least a small add in the phone book. Although they tend to be spendy...they are REALLY helpfull.

Do you have a website? Flyers with a web address can be distibuted (where it's legal to do so)

new customers.. hmm. we are trying to attract any customers. opened in the worst of times.. go visit local dealers, a decent wholesale account can pay your bills..

  • put an a frame sign in front of your building..
  • letter a van.. top to bottom and park it.. or have a friend drive it
  • website.. ill make you a website...  cost you  $100 bucks.. 5 pages.. then you got $19 per month.. and insertion with google per month for up to $150..
  • get some tshirts made real cheap.. wear them everywhere.. give them away with every purchase
  • oh yea.. and pray.. a lot.

Yellow pages adds can be great to help you out. Also create some excitement in your community. Next weekend we are sponsoring a motorcyle ride for the arthritis foundation. This ride is set up as a poker run. We are expecting about 300 riders who all have to step foot in the store since our store is a checkpoint. We may not sell anything that day but it gets people in the store to see what you have to offer. Last year we tracked around 15k of business out of that event over a couple month period.

i do not agree with the yellow page gig at all... itll get you customers in the first 3 months, if you are lucky. .after that its anyones guess... go to online pageslike AT&T and others.. more people use the internet for business searches...

yellowpages have been dropping sales like a rock.. and for good reason

I have been open for 7years with my first location and for the last two with my second location. I track how every single new customer that comes into my door finds out about me and the yellow pages have been huge for me. They are expensive but worth it.
Every location is going to be different as far as what will work the best. The best thing to do is to determine who your customer is and focus your advertising campaign in that direction. If something works for you stick with it if it doesnt work leave it alone.

We use those highway signs with huge success. Also during the summer months make sure you put on events such as sound competitions or car shows. Word of mouth is one of the BEST advertising, but becareful because bad news travels faster than good.

Maybe try this "Free Installation No Matter Where You Bought Your Equipment As Long As You Buy The Wires/Accessories From Us." Make it first come first serve (or maybe by appointment?), 2 weeks only. Just a suggestion.
