I opened up my ignition harness and the previous owner had a very bad alarm job. Some of the alarm wires are cut and are still connected to oem wire with elec tape. Its a mess. But all the wires have that nasty electrical tape reidue and they are all sticky. How do i get that stuff off of there? I dont really like the idea of using water on those wires.....its mainly on the shielding......should i just use water or some goo gone?

Just use some adhesive remove from 3M that is safe for electrical wires or you could use rubbing alcohol.

Spraying some brake cleaner into a rag works very good.

Just  beware of WD40. One squirt can kill any future paint job. This stuff is a painters nightmare. It causes fisheye and almost impossible to remove. WD40 should not be used in any shop that works on cars.

you should also wash your hands after using electrical tape since it has lead in it.
