Does any techniciens had ever installed a Rostra cruise on the new body style 08 Silverado? Rostra has a listing which is "pedal pull" but no special bulletin on how to install it. The engine is a 4.8L with electronic gaz peddle.

Thanks!

Just need to install the control handle/switch and program the software to activate via the drive by wire. You will need a GM Scantool to do this.

I had to do one a few months ago and they have a tech note how to assembly the throttle pull to the gas pedal inside the vehicle. You can contact Rostra and have them fax you the document. It shows where to mount control box and how to bend and cut support bracket.
The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

I'm sorry Jeff, but unless the truck is a 2007 "old/classic" design you can't install the cruise lever and program it to work. The 2007 "New Design" trucks are locked for programming. The cruise won't work in that method. There is a tech tip on Rostra's website under the Technical Support link that shows how to install a cruise in a pedal pull method. Be sure to follow it exactly or you won't get very good results.

I've been installing the 250-9003 on the "new body style" 07 and 08 trucks until just recently. The code thing sucks. But there has got to be another cruise kit available. Pedal Pull, you've got to be kidding.

So what else is available?

I've written GM, Doubt it made it past the mailroom though.

That we installers, the GM dealers, the Fleet sales and the Customers who just spent about $15-$20,000 for a strip down work truck would like to add Cruise Control on many of the trucks.

Since GM isn't selling the parts kit, and the aftermarket is, but with the locked out coding, GM is ONLY Hurting themselves!

Ford codes are not a problem, Dodge and Toyotas are a parts only addition!

I guess GM has either gone STUPID or is TRYING to cease operations.

Rostra's pedal pull for this is dagerously scary. We have completed 1 install that I advised against due to the method of pedal attachment. The problem is that if the customer should kick up there right foot and hit the cruise cable you can pull the cable out of the metal hold down which will floor the gas pedal at the same time sticking it there. Not sure about you but I prefer not to kill my customers.

I've done hundreds of pedal pull cruise controls and the 2008 GM pickup install is very safe. Kick the cable all you want, the only thing you could do is break something that won't allow the cruise to work. If Rostra lists a way to put a cruise control into something, you can bet it has been thoroughly tested and is safe.

Rostra quote that the vss wire is located under the vehicle under driver 's door at abs module, is this easily accessible or do I need a hoist to access this area?

Thanks,
