Hi everyone:

I bought this cruise control for my 2003 matrix Xr. and have installed the servo, found the vacuum line and did the thrthle linkage.

Yet i can't find the dang Vss wire connection or the tach wire connector , since the instruction manuals i received where for cars up to 1995.. I have called audivox and all i've gotten was a where the wire is supposed to be and its color, same as with the tach wire..

What i was told is the same as rostro says in their prduct area for my car:

2003 TOYOTA COROLLA - MATRIX

CRUISE CONTROL

Part # 250-1176

Part # 250-1223

Control Lever: 250-3742 ,250-3421

Adapter: 250-4361

VSS Wire: LOCATION 2- 4 CONNECTOR ECM- 2ND CONNECTOR LEFT TO RIGHT

VSS Wire Color: VIOLET/WHITE

VSS Pulse: 4000

VSS Tach Wire: LOCATION 2- (E6) 31 PIN CONNECTOR OF ECM POSITION 5

Tach Signal Wire Color: BLACK

Brake Switch Positive: RED / WHITE

Brake Switch Negative: GREEN / WHITE

I have searched the entire area behind the glove box i even took pictures with my digital camera and i can't find either of the cables.. Besides that they say behind the glove box and behind it besides there being some sort of canister for the a/c system , there are only 2 plugs, and upwards hidden under a small lid covered box are 3 plugs, but this box is upwards allmost reaching the air bag.

Can anyone please tell me where are those 2 wires i need to finally install the system and try it out.

VSS can be found in the cluster wiring as well as tach

VSS white green at instrument cluster pin 18

Tach Balck pin 27 again at instument cluster

I found the ecm which is actually below the glove box as contrary to what everything says that its behind the glove box.... and found the two cables i've been looking for so long.... which are the VSS and the tach source cables.

Now all i need is to connect them.. though.. i called audiovox to make sure it was the correct cables and though their answer was vague on the tach source wire.. they told me i had to check the tach source wire using a multimeter set on AC and to check if it had voltage while the car is in idle... anyone know if there's any truth to this??

Also i was told by a mechanic friend of mine that right in the engine compartment next to the throtle body the plug next to it is the VSS plug that sends the data to the ECM,, is this true, coudln't i just connect there, instead of being so close to the computer. Could the same be applied to the tach source wire i also need, couldn't i just connect form one of the distribuidor coils on top of the spark plugs and do the same thing?

Does anyone know about these? and if this can be done, does anyone know which of the 3 wires coming out of the vss plug i should use? Also if i can connect to the coils, since the matrix has 4 independent coils and each has 4 wires coming out of them, to which of these wires do i connect?

if you have found the ecm then you should use the wires you have instead of guessing. You really don't have to worry about the tach unless you have a standard trans. There is nothing to worry about hooking up so close to the computer. We do it all the time. simply put, once you have the vss and tach wires located you are good to go.

Success!!!!!!

I found the problem is was a simple the power cable came loose, i tightend it and bingo flawlessly working!!

Thank you everyone for telling me where the cables where.. though i was a bit scared i will admint connecting so close to the ecm.
