 I have a late model GM steering column with a turn signal stalk that has the Hi/Lo beam, wipers and cruise control on it. The wires coming out of the stalk are color code as; red, green, blue and white and they go down to a plug that also has a black wire looped to two of the posts. I have installed an after  market  Audiovoxx Dash mounted  Cruise Control that has the speed sensor from magnets around the drive shaft. There are 4 wires on the dash mounted switch color coded as; red, brown, green and yellow. I am trying to make the column mounted stalk the control instead of the dash mounted control. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. This whole installation is on a street rod and I am not 100% sure of the year of the donor steering column.

Since U don't know the year of the column:

Is the plug on the handle flat or square?  And R U sure that it is a white wire?

Also can U switch your cruise box to Open or Closed Circuit for your handle?

 I just double checked the color coding of the plug and it is red, green, blue and white. The plug has 5 posts with wires attached. Across the top they are colored as follows with  the second row on  the bottom. There is a jumper wire from the Black post to the White post.

                          RED            GREEN           BLACK

                          BLUE          WHITE

Not knowing the year is an issue with me, but U can use a ohm meter to determine the functions of the wires.

The only GM handles I have wiring R like this:

White = 12 volt ignition
Green = ON
Red = Set
Yellow = Resume
U still need to check if your Cruise Box will switch to Open Circuit Handle/Switch
The dash switch U are using now is Closed Circuit and the GM Handle (if that is GM) is Open Circuit

Are you sure you're not looking at the wiper switch pigtail instead of teh cruise control leads?

Sorry for not replying sooner but I have been on vacation and this is the first chance I have had to reply.

To "mo12V"; how do I check for an open or closed circuit? I am certain this is a GM column but again I am not sure of the year.

To "ynst"; I am not sure of anything at this poin, although I do know the wiper switch on the stalk continues to work the wipers so I have all but ruled that portion out.

I have never posted a picture to one of these forums, but I will try. I have tried several times to upload the picture but it will not upload because of its size. I will try e-mailing you directly if I can figure out the address. My home address is    tkinsell@rochester.rr.com  if it does not go thru to you. Maybe you can send me your address.
