finishing ports

How do ya'll finish your ports to make them look nice and pretty with the box? 

I thought about ordering flair ports from partsexpress but I've already like quintupled my budget for this project.

I mean when using pvc piping or abs or something?  Anything more innovative or exciting than gluing/sanding/painting?

i router them to finish the top side.  can get a nice round off bit or a slant bit looks nice as well,  dont konw if that's what you mean by sanding.

actually i just realiced you might be talking about the out side of the port that can be seen from a plexi glass opening maybe?   i have taken a PVC port and with the fence and blade of the table set up so it would gouge a straigt line into the port, i ran the port thru across the blade multiple times about 2 inches apart between the lines.  clean it up a bit then paint the stipes a color (i used red) allow to dry. cover the stripes/gauges  with masking tape then sand the out side of the port and paint a different color (i used black).  i was using rockford RED / black colored sub's so it looked pretty cool.  gave it a cog*  finish.  it's not supper custom or nothing but, it is a lil more detail than just paint.

Am idea I came up with but haven't done yet, are port grilles. Then there is the stealth port setup (JL is well known for this). You have your traditional Quick Ports (but they tend to flair the sound), theres the Rundover ports, the horn ports, etc.

Honestly ports can be as custom as the install itself. It's a matter of what kind of design are you looking for. Personally I love stealth port setups such as a well designed plexiglass port or ports hidden behind a beauty panel.

My question to you is, what are you looking for? Something inexpensive (since you are at 5x budget) or something spectacular (since you are at 5x budget anyway and might as well go all the way)?
