im building a ported sub box for 4 cvr 15s i have the volume of the box at 4.8 without displacement and according to kickers site i need anywhere from 3-5 cubic feet for it with displacement im at 4.3 with displacement. i was told by some random person that it'll be too much pressure and the heat or sumtin he said would pop the voice coils then he said i should do sealed because it'll be easier to control the freq. which i agree to some extent but im sure if im using a box calc program you can pretty much nail wat freq your gonna be at. my question is
1. for multiple subs say u put 4 subs in one box should you have 4 cubic feet per sub, coming out to 16 cubic feet or wat?
2. wouldn't putting 4 subs in a sealed box have a better chance of over heating due to it being sealed and better chance of popping because of the pressure is contained inside.
i just want to ease my mind i know its a random person but u never know wat those people may know
thanks

I got 4 subs in my van and does not have 2 much pressure as long as you brace the box good.
What are you putting the subs in?
sealed is good for sq and looks
port is good for bass and looks if your good
Can't be loud then don't have it.

its going in a friends Honda accord it ports forward threw the center console the dimensions are built to the car so it should be fine but i had just never really heard of popping the voice coils because of have a ported box and it generating to much heat so i should go with a sealed.

Yes.  Minimum size is about 2 cu ft sealed chamber for each 15.  You lose on the low end of the freq range with the smaller box size (2 cu ft is small).  Make it as big as you possibly can for four subs.  You can go 20 total cubic feet if you want to.  Keep it sealed for this woofer.

To use vented, cut the number of subs in half.  You simply could not get enough cubic feet and the car couldn't (or truly, wouldn't want to) bear the weight of a properly constructed vented box with this many 15's.  You would have to consider the sizeable addition of port structure to the above cubic feet.

Don't worry about what JackO told you about overheating and popping voice coils.  You hear dumb stuff all the time regarding car audio.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

ya thats wat i thought and i iv looked at all the pdfs and done all the research
iv been using cad and i figured out how to get the box to 12.8 cubic feet which should give me enough for bracing and port (assuming port is small) and displacement which puts me at 3 cubic feet per sub according to kickers pdf 3-5 is for ported so i got the cubic (just on) but my prob is wats the formula if there is one to figure out how long your port should be and then does anyone know the formula for getting the hertz on a L port i see the calc on here but thats only slot and re's L port calc wont fit my application so anyone know the actual formula?

An L-shaped port is measured same as a straight one...right through the center.

Those subs need more displacement.  Stick with sealed for four subs.  I don't know what you truly mean by saying "I've been using cad...", but why, if you're using a box-building program, are you stuck on how to find port requirements?
