I just purchased a 1985 Camaro as a project car, one of the things I'm going to do to it is add a sub enclosure.  I've found some pre-made wood ones that fit in the well in the back.  I like the look of fiberglass better, is there any reason I couldn't take the pre-made wood box and just fiberglass the outside to get the appearance I want?  If I do this, do I just use resin or do I still need to put the mat down too (even though I don't need strength)?  Or am I better off just using something like body filler to cover the wood box, sand and paint that?  Thanks.

Resin without matte will crack after time. Especially on a flexing box.

You do know you can fit (2) 15 inch woofers in that car and it sounds great. The box is kind of heavy, but boy does it sound good. If you are interested, I did post plans here somewhere.
