hi guys whats up im new here so yeah well heres whats going down i got a 94 ford explorer im putting in two jl audio w3v2's and two 1600 watt poweracoustik gothic series amps well what i did was pop out all my carpet in the trunk and then i layd down the making tape and wd40 for release and then i fiberglassed the full bottom and up the sides i did not do the back i put down 4 layers of fiberglass

i wanted to know once i finish it off with the top will it still be as strong as all the other good fg boxes or will it be shaky right now its decent when its in the car it dosnt move at all ill have some pics up soon and im also going to be fiberglassing my playstation 2 into the glove box and a new touchscreen into my dash lots to come!!! i took out all my old install because i didnt like the way it laid out :-D

I mean people on here say do 8 - 12 layers, I mean I did a fiberglass box with 3 layers and that was with some weak 8" though.

4 layers will be strong enough to pull the mold out. Just reinforce it in the areas that are flexing under pressure.

depends on how many curvs you have. the first rule of fiberglass is that it is wicked stong in curves, but weak in flat areas. i would think at least 3-4 more layers will be needed tho. better to do it right the first time than re-doing it later. ~Ryan

Yeah a good test is once it is completely cured push it with your thumb, if it flexes reinforce it. If not you're good to go.
