Well this weekend I think i'm gonna try my first fiberglassing attempt. I'm making a panel to replace the passenger airbag.

I was planning on taping/foiling off the airbag panel and then making the fiberglass panel in the same shape as that. Will this work?  Technically I should make a mold and then fiberglass from the mold because i'm trying to recreate a piece, but because its only a panel with a slight curve, can I just go the easy route.

I'm an EE and can wire up alarms and stereos in my sleep but this fiberglassing is a tricky beast.

Well first off, im sure you know this but im going to say it anyway.  Be EXTREMELY careful with that airbag, even though its unplugged it can still go off in your face if your not careful with it. I would say that would probably work but you might have to make you a way hold that up there. There may or may not be a lip you can set it on.  If there is a lip I would us either some glass or I would use a piece of mdf routered down to make it fit flush.  If that doesnt work looks like your stuck going the hard way.

Still though be careful with that airbag man.

Learning the trade one fiberglass creation at a time!

Thanks for the tip. I'll tape off the connectors as an extra precaution.
