Been so long since I fired up the old polyester resin and other associated chemicals.....
Just finished the tub for my car (got sick of the MDF box, had some free time between customers cars...) Noticed I used a whack load of mat..... almost 50 square feet, actually. All done to final thicknesses and such, etc. etc. What kind of resin usage do you guys usually end up with per 22sq. ft of cloth? All said and done, I ended up using slightly less than a gallon of resin for close to 50 square feet of coarse chop mat. Seems a little light on the resin department from what I remember..... but, all fully saturated, and good and strong/thick all around. (2004 VW MKIV spare tire well)
Just curious, that's all.....

Seems like a ton of cloth, but a reasonable amount of resin. Sounds like what I use to build a box on the resin end of the usage. As for how much to use, I once read on a websight that a 2 OZ. piece of mat will use about 4 OZ. of resin to fully saturate the mat.

its just really up to how thick u want it, when i do my custom work i tend to mix to little than i really need because i can always go back and finish. just be sure that if you dont color you resin to make marks where you left off or u might end up having thicker layers in some areas and to little in some areas. but if you dont mix the the right about the first time then you can always go back and do it again, just make sure u do it in layers so thats its even.

Yup.... I actually use red and clear hardener. Believe it or not, you can actually buy colored hardener. Just for this very purpose.

I have a small jar of black dye, going to use it for that next time.
