Sanders?

i was looking in a mag and i saw a custom FG box done and the guy was using a air sander... now my question is, is it a special kind of sander? i have an electrical sander but its flat... so what kind of sander do you use on curves and such? i used a 3d sander from sears before but it didnt work that great... is there any alternatives? cuz sanding curves on a med-large sub box would be a bitchhh. thakns

I use a random orbital sander by Dewalt. they are about 90 bucks new. They have 8 holes for vacuuming so you dont inhale quite so much bondo dust. They are great for flat surfaces and also for curves but cant do much for radius' less than 5 inches. Another type of air sander has a circular disk ona flexible back plate. these are good for tight turns but they take it off really fast so be careful. Another type of sander is also air powered and is used for large falt surfaces. Use that one only for large surfaces however. The best way however to make a nice smooth corner is with the elbow greese. Make sure to wear a nice filter mask so you dont inhale the dust.
