fiberglass/plexi sub box

Hey guys, new here. Ive been reading and searching different tips on how to make a fiberglass box and putting plexiglass in it to show the amps. I wanted to know how you make the plexiglass flush with the fiberglass . Sorry if thats confusing.  I tried searching for that but the hits i got confused the crap outta me lol. IF you have any pics or websites that will help me id appreciate it. ThanksJust tryin' to learn...

Basically you want to make the fiberglass form around the thickness of the plexiglass. Use a peice of MDF the same thickness as the plexiglass as a template and mold around the MDF. From your post you want to incorporate your amplifier into your sub enclosure and use plexiglass as part of the enclosure walls ?Jeff

not quite right but right idea...

you will have to create MDF rings about 1 1/4" larger overal then your plexiglass...that way you end up with 3/4 " of MDF ring that entends past the plexi...then you have Two choices...

1. router out the MDF so the Plexi sits flush in it...then using those nuts with teeth in them..(i cant remember what thy are called) the ones you hammer into the wood.. hammer them into the opposite side you routered out.  all the way around the plexi about every 4-6" if this portion of the box is being used for the subs...and about 6-8" appart if it is just a for looks piece..obviously you will have predrilled all the holes first..then you can bolt the plexi to the wood..if you want a nice clean install make sure the bolts dont go all the way through the nut...that way you can glass over the back side of the nut to hide it..if you were qick on the ball too you could router out the edge of the hole the glass will be in from the same side you hammer the nuts into...then you will have a rolled edge to the plexiglass..doing it this way the bolts will be in the insde of the box and the nuts will be flushed in front side hidden by the fiberglass work your gonna do over top of them, this will make the plexi window recessed in about 1/2"...you can either remove the plexi while doing the fiberglass or keep it in and tape it off reallly well...

2. option is just the opposite wherer the same MDF ring is routered out but this time it is installed the other way around so that the bolts show and the plexi is flush with the front side of the box and the nuts are hammered into the back side and are in the box......
