Ok there are three basic types of resins: polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy resin. Polyester shrinks the most, is the weakest, and smells the worst. Vinyl ester has some odd properties. It doesnt bond well with itself when it ages so well. It is kinda the "middle" of the pack. i was told at school that it doesnt work well cost wise for what we do, and that was the last thing I learned about it. Epoxy resin is the best of the three. Best strength, smallest shrinkage, lowest smell, etc... Of course epoxy being the best, also cost the most.
And the rule of thumb is the best can cover the worst resins, but the worst can not cover the best.
