I am about to change all the factory bulbs in my interior to LEDs (Blue). I would like to know if I need to change the fuse that is on that circuit.
Since the LEDs do not draw as much, if there would happen to be a short for whatever reason at any point in time I have the potential in blowing all the LEDs and possibly wiring.
So, if I do need to change to a lower rated amp fuse, how would I find out what size fuse I need to use? Can I simply remove the fuse with the interior lights on, use a multimeter and check how many amps it is pulling to power the lights, then multiply that number by 1.5 to get my fuse rating? Is this a feasible and safe practice or would anyone recommend something else?
TIA,
Sall

The fuse is there to protect the wire not the devices.  Unless you are pulling new smaller wire the existing fuse will be safe for your application.

I'm all for correctly calculating fuse sizes in large systems (over 100A).  In your situation the OEM fuse is most likely a 10 or possibly a 15A.  Lowering it down to a 3 or 5A fuse won't gain you anything in the event of a short - each fuse will open in roughly the same amount of time.

Alright, thank you. I will look and make for certain what exactly the fuse is rated at now.

Interior Fuse is rated at 10A, you are correct.
