DRL Module Wiring, Land Rover LR4 to LR3

Hi, Can anyone help me figure out how to wire up my DRL's. I'm retrofitting 2015 Land Rover LR4 headlights into a 2007 LR3. The single DRL LED strip from the LR4 has two pins that need positive 12VDC, at different times. PIN# 2 lights up the strip as Parking lamps, at a lower voltage via its own LED controller. PIN# 8 lights up the same strip as DRL, at full voltage via its own LED controller. PIN# 1 is ground So basically, I need a circuit that will provide DRL Pin# 8 with positive 12V when engine is running, and cut off all power to Pin# 8 when PIN# 2 (+12V) parking lights come on, and when engine is off. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hopefully someone can chime in if my diagram I just made will work or not, or what changes I should make. I did bench test pin 2 and 8 separately, while using pin 1 as ground and they worked as they should. I will be making my own relay harness, and bypassing the factory wiring for those pins. Is a diode needed? My concern is to avoid putting 12v+ on PIN 2 and 8 at the SAME time, as this would most likely fry the LED controller since it uses a single strip for DRL and sidelight (parking lights).

Your diagram looks good to me. If you want to add a diode across the coil of the relay, it won't hurt, but it doesn't look like it's needed. the12volt • Support the12volt.com
