As the title states, I’m trying to add a dimming dome light to my 2019 Chevy Tahoe. I paid an installer to do it, but he stated he wasn’t able to hook it up to where I open my doors it turns on. He wired it to the Manuel overhead switch, and the dome light also has manual switches for on and off. The installer stated it was making a fast clicking noise due to the dimming function of the light head.
Dome light is a Whelen 6” dome light with negative trigger wires.
Vehicle is a 2019 Chevy Tahoe
Currently wired to turn on by oem switch on vehicle overhead panel and light switch on dome light.

your door triggers (if going that route) would be inside each door
Left Front Door Trigger       Gray     -     Driver Door Latch, green 10 pin plug, pin 1
Right Front Door Trigger Gray     -     Passenger Door Latch, green 10 pin plug, pin 5
or you could take the white, blue or org, and go to Dome Light     Gray + BCM under driver dash, gray 26 pin plug, pin 1. you'd need a relay for that one to flip from negative to positive. He probably has power already
33 years as a installer now just a retired old guy. Favorite thing to install/topic are remote starts/car alarms. Stop using test lights!!!

Spoke with the installer, who stated he received power from the overhead console. When he attempted to connect doors trigger wire to relay, it started making a loud clicking noise on power down. He stated it was due to the dome light having a dimming feature.
See picture for overhead console with oem manual switch. Adding A Dimming Dome Light To 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe -- posted image.

I think I may be misreading your subject. Are you trying to install a domelight onto an already in existence dimming domelight circuit? If that is the case I do have a solution for that. If that is the case, let me know. I will find it.

That is correct. The dome light I am trying to wire has a built-in dimming feature, and the circuit I am trying to wire into is the OEM dimming overhead. The installer attempted installing it so that when the doors open, it turns on, but was not able to due to the relay making a buzzing/fast clicking noise. He has since then wired it up to when I flip the overhead switch the dome light turns on.
See first picture of dome light diagram. I will also attempt to take pictures of how it’s currently wired.

I was able to take down the over head console to find the wiring. The installer use extension wires, due to the map light wires being to short. The new color wired are labeled below.
Red-red = Power
White-Green= switch
Black- black grounded to bare metal
Yellow-white = vbat
See picture below on how it is wired to factory harness and the type of map light I am installing.
