Hello,
has anyone met with a low side switch for the lights in the title ? How common are these for domestic US vehicles ?
Low side switches will make/break the ground connection as opposed to a high side switch which makes or brakes the 12 V connection.

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you working with a specific product and vehicle? High Level switchers are most common because people are usually tagging the wires in the back of the vehicle where the signal is 12V rather than ground like it would be at the BCM or multifunction switch. Brake is usually 12V no matter where you tag it on the vehicle.

Ok, thanks. Just trying to figure out whether I should make two designs or just one for my gadget - which should be generic enough to work with all or most cars.

If you don't mind sharing I'd be interested in hearing more about what you are working on.
A few other things with the tail lamp circuits that you'll have to factor in are whether the circuits are PWM or not and if the tail lamps are incandescent or LED.

Got it!
AS this is an idea for a commercial project that I am working on... sorry, not much more that I see fit to share.
Thanks

I see, do you work for a manufacturer?
I have a few ideas on where this information could take you...especially for a commercial project.
