Just got an LED headlight flasher, that's got the following four wire connections in the instructions. The LEDs are supposed to flash when the engine is turned off, and stay on ( non-flashing ) when the headlights are on.

Red - connect to 12V constant, Black - ground, Yellow - connect to ignition - deactivates LED when positive 12V is applied, Blue - connect to headlight positive 12V, turns LED on constantly

So here's the question, how would I connect the flasher, if I wanted the LEDs to stay on when the headlights are on, but not flash when the engine is turned off ( i've already got alarm LEDs ). But I still want to keep the flasher, but controlled manually by a on/off button, i.e only flash when I want it to, and I don't want to have to manually turn off the flasher every time I turn the engine off. How would I connect a Relay to make this work, and where would the on/off button have to be in the circuit.

Forgot to mention, that I'd like to be able to turn on the flasher, whether the engine is turned on or off.

I suspect it's a simple single relay connection, but can't seem to imagine it out. How would I connect a Relay to make this work, and where would the on/off button have to be in the circuit.

I seem to be talking to myself. But either way, here's my try on how I could do this in the diagram below. Would this work ? Are there any issues I'm not covering in the diagram below ? Do I need any diode isolation ? Is it any issue that when the led switch is on, the engine is on, and the headlights are on, there are two paths for 12V constant, i.e. direct through switch and direct through relay ? Feedback appreciated.

This is what the flasher module does:

                             HD On                         HD Off

Engine Off              Flashing Light           Flashing Light

Engine On              Constant Light          No Light

This is what I want:

Switch Off / HD Off    Switch Off / HD On    Switch On / HD Off    Switch On / HD On

Engine Off              No Light                       No Light                      Flashing Light           Flashing Light

Engine On              No Light                       Constant Light          No Light                      Constant Light

This is how I think I can accomplish it:

Any input ?

vseth,
My head hurts, I have to take an Advil and think about your questions. It's a very simple setup to begin with, but you have made it just that much more complex when you introduce a certain feature that is not there to begin with.
BTW, you can hit the EDIT button and add anything else you have forgotten. This way it's a lot easlier for anyone answering your questions to see everything on one post. + it doesn't sound like you are answering your own post. Too late now because I have posted. But just for further reference do that the next time.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.Varad LED Flasher -- posted image.

Just tie the one that sayes IGN to the Hot Lead and you are Done.Varad LED Flasher -- posted image.

Could it really be that simple. If so that's great, but I suspect I will not be able to make it flash, in which case it becomes same as connecting LEDs directly ( i.e. without the flasher modules at all ). Plus will there be any requirement for diodes on the ignition and 12V wire connections ? Any possibility of shorts ( maybe internal of the flasher between the 12v and IGN ) ? Here is what I suspect

Switch Off / HD Off    Switch Off / HD On    Switch On / HD Off    Switch On / HD On

Engine Off              No Light                       No Light                      No Light                      Constant Light

Engine On              No Light                       No Light                      No Light                      Constant Light

The module will always presume that the ignition is on, and as such will not let the LEDs flash. Also when I turn the HD On, ofcourse the normal headlights will come on as well ( which I would not want when the engine is off ).  There's dependancy on how exactly the logic inside the flasher module is set, so because of the simplicity I will definately check how it works out, if I connected that way.

You could make it flash by adding another switch between the hot ans IGN wires. open it flashes closed it does not  12v off nothing happens.

Great idea. But I'll have to test out how the module reacts to that, cause it's dependant on it. Example if you just connect the ground and 12V wires, all it does is flash, like an alarm LED. But I think, it'll work. I'll follow-up. Thanks.
