Hey guys. Recently Installed an alarm in my car. And I have one of those Aftermarket Led's, that has 6 of them that do the wig wag & all the other flashing patterns. Anyways, I want to hook it up to that when I turn the key off to the vehicle, it then comes on. Unless someone knows how I can get my alarm to run it as soon as I arm it. Any help would be great, thanks.

Most alarms have a (-) when armed output that can be referenced for this.

If yours doesn't, most cars ignition wires rest at ground when off.  So, you can wire the (-) to an ignition wire and the (+) to +12vdc.

Thanks, Ill try that. Umm, I was lookin thru the Manual, on my alarm, there is a wire, Named "Ground when armed Output". It says that this wire provides a 300mA ground output when the alarm circuit is armed to control the starter inhibit realy. I am not using the starter inhibit realy, but could I use this wire to run that led when the alarm is armed. Does that sound right?

Most LED strips have three wirse, +, -, and ground when armed.  If your has these, hook it up that way, if you don't, you can try hooking the - to your alarms ground when armed output, but I would first check the current consumption of the LED strip.

Yes it does have 3 wires. So if I hook up the + to 12V, the - to Ground, then where do I run the ground when armed wire.

I hooked the Led strip up the other day, all I know is I only used 2 wires, and it came on. But there is 3 wires there. Black, Red, Yellow.

You would have to check the documentation.

Most likely, red will go to 12vdc constant, black will go to ground, and yellow will go to (-) when armed.  Again though, check the information that came with it!

Hi!

I have the same issue but my Bright LED has RED, BLACK, BLUE...I think REd is for (+), Black (-) and Blue is for Ground....or If I'm wrong my Blue wire is your Yellow wire. My car has a Factory Alarm. I looked at my vehicle wiring diagram. And my 12volts is (+) wire and my IGNITION wire is (+) also. So, if you're telling us to connect the NEGATIVE (-) wire of my LED to my Ignition wire ( negative(-) to positive (+) because of my Ignition wire is (+) ) would it be safe....and the extra blue wire, I just connect it to any ground?

  On the other hand, In my vehicle diagram, there is a FACTORY ALARM DISARM wire, which is white and indicates NEGATIVE (-). Should I connect the (-) wire of my LED to this White (-) also instead of connecting it to my IGNITION wire which is (+). My other question is, the extra blue wire which I think is for the GROUND, where should I connect it, since in my Vehicle Wiring diagram doesn't show any wire for GROUND. Should I leave it untapped?

I'm trying to do the same thing on my impala. My scanner has red, black, and yellow wires, but i think they were 12v+, ground, and switched +. I'm not sure which wire was which, exc. ground. Any help is very appreciated.
