Where is the factory stereo amp located in a 1995 ford explorer four door.  I put a sony  stereo in, using the install wiring harnesses and all worked well.  I put new speakers in all four doors, and a set of 10" subs with a small amp in the back.  All works, but I want to find and bypass the existing amp.  This is my first post here so I was not sure what the "enable forum codes" at the bottom meant, so I left it unchecked.

Should be behind the passenger rear quarter panel.

Like mobile1 said its in the passenger quarter panel by the door. You can get a bypass harness from American International, will save you some time.

some factory ford amps the bypass harness will not fit...it depends on the factory amp.
On my 98 explorer only one plug fit the harness..I had to cut and splice the other end of it...metra sucks and so does ford.

Thank you for all the help.  To save a few bucks, is it possible to go to the amp, and just cut and splice the input and output from the amp together?  If so, any idea where to find the schematics for that amp?

Does that bypass tie the plugs at the amp or at the radio?   If it is the radio, do they make one to use right at the amp?
